The Copper State Football League is proud of its heritage and the teams that make up our league. The East Valley Mustangs are an example of what good leadership, dedicated football players and coaches who know their job can do on the field and off for the game of football.
Bryan O'Connell is the 33 year old owner and founder of the team. Originally from Connecticut, Bryan is married, to Michelle and has three daughters. Employed by Wells Fargo as a PC/LAN Engineer this man has over 13 years of experience as either, a player, coach or owner. As a head coach for the Chandler Buccaneers, and formerly as defensive back, his football playing career was ended with a series of knee surgeries and a motorcycle accident.
Bryan’s love of the game lead him to create the East Valley Mustangs, with the goal of creating an organization that exemplifies a solid product on the football field, providing players and coaches all of the tools needed to build their skill sets and showcase their talents, and in some cases move onto other levels of play, while at the same time providing a team atmosphere of professionalism.
It took a lot of work to end up with this very effective organization that provides a professional and experienced coaching staff, lead by Head Coach Jason Skrnich, a former MLF Champion/IFL Coach. Assistant coaches Aaron Frazier and Coach Dave bring with them an enormous amount of football knowledge and history. Coach Aaron Frazier, former Arizona Rattlers as well as Canadian Football League and Phoenix College Coach, this man has offensive plays that lead to explosive plays on the field. Coach Dave, a former MLF Champion Head Coach and IFL coach, this man’s defensive knowledge of the game will make the Mustangs a team to be respected.
Bryan notes he has worked hard to acquire the best of players to round out his team. Former Arizona MLF leading rusher Mike Scott is back along with All Star WR Jacob Reid and veteran WR Donnie Bar are part of his crew. Some new names that will be announced often on the speaker during this upcoming season are Offensive All Star Lineman Larry Brady, Center Dan Mascorro, former ASU WR Corey Brown and QB Justin Evans and leading up the Defense All Star Ronald Gordon.
