(North Texas Indoor Professional Football Team, The Colony, TX) For the North Texas Crunch, Saturday after noon was the culmination of championship dream that began after last year's 2008 IIFA Championship victory in Galveston Texas.
The Crunch completed their second season in the IIFA, 6-2, and won the 2009 IIFA Championship Game 52-12 over a game Texas Wranglers squad at Blue Sky Sports Center in The Colony Texas.
Shortly into the first quarter, North Texas took its first lead of the game. DeRon Lawrence lead the Crunch WR's with 5 catches for 71 years and 2 TD’s hauled in a twenty three-yard touch down pass from Derrick Dickerson with 10:52 left in the 1st quarter (The extra-point was good kicked by John Bryant who 3 of 4 on the day).
The Wranglers couldn't get again going in the 1st half because of the Crunch "D" held them to a total of 36 yards in that first half. Also the starting FS for the Crunch Elijah Page had a 35 yard int return for a touchdown in the 4th quarter to close the door for good.
Dickerson want on to threw two more touchdowns one to Jesses Shields and another to DeRon Lawrence. RB's Ricky Madison had 10 carries for 71 yards and two touchdown and Quinton Jones 7 carries for 70 yards and one touchdown.
The North Texas Crunch QB Derrick Dickerson was voted the 2009 IIFA Alliance II MVP went 9 of 17 for 128 yards and three touchdowns which the Crunch Back to Back Championships.
