Derek Anderson is 25 years old. He played high school football at Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood, MA. The Xaverian program has produced many elite athletes such as NFL players Matt and Tim Hasselbeck, Greg Comella, Derrick Knight, Drew Strojny, etc. Derek was honored as team MVP (the first of which in almost 10 years to not play D1 scholarship ball in college), and recognized by the Boston Globe and Boston Herald as a state-wide standout. As a high school all american in track and field, and considered undersized for D1 college football, Derek chose to persue track and field in college. Throughout his college career Derek was twice recognized as a D1 NCAA all american, NCAA Northeast Athlete of the Year, 6 season team captain, multiple school records, and also set an APA world record in the deadlift.
Derek considers himself an opportunist in every aspect of life. Because of that it cut his last season short with the Tempe Rams due to a career opportunity in San Diego, CA. However, during his time with the Rams he was fully committed mentally, physically, and emotionally. His goal was to be the best defensive player on the field, and maximize every ounce of talent he brought to the table. If that performance is/was deserving of a shot at a higher level Derek would follow the call of opportunity.
Outside of football Derek loves to compete. He loves the everyday thrill of competition at work, at the gym, and in bettering himself as a person. Outside of competition he loves to spend time with and support his family and friends. Currently Derek is working as an Accounts Manager for a Healthcare Staffing Firm in San Diego, CA. At the moment he is not playing due to being new to San Diego, but is searching for his next on field opportunity.
Derek Anderson has character. As an athlete he has proven times over his strength, speed, and agility, but he would want them to know the character which motors him desire to achieve. He considers himself a good teammate, a solid leader, and an extremely hard worker. When all is said and done Derek wants his coaches and peers alike to truly believe that aside from his on field production he was extremely passionate about the game and doing whatever it took to get himself, and his organization, to the top of the mountain.
